History
Synairgen was founded by Professors Stephen Holgate, Ratko Djukanovic and Donna Davies of the University of Southampton. The Company's focus is based on their research. Using start-up funding from IP2IPO (IP Group Plc), Synairgen was spun-out from the University of Southampton's School of Medicine in 2003. Operations began in 2004 and in October 2004 Synairgen completed its initial public offering on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange, raising £10 million to enhance its research capabilities, develop its biobank and invest in its proprietary programmes. In June 2009, Synairgen raised a further £6 million to finance to Phase II proof of concept studies for its inhaled interferon beta programme.
